BCA SPARK is the first ever sports and arts competition to be held during a pandemic

One of our strategies to build a friendly working environment at BCA is to provide work-life balance programs for BCA employees. Sport & Art community and BCA SPARK events are part of BCA's work life balance program, which aim to continuously support employees in channeling their talents and hobbies based on the spirit of competition & sportsmanship, therefore increasing employee’s motivation to always do their best both at work and in their daily lives
BCA SPARK is annually held by gathering talents from BCA employee across Indonesia at one location. However, due to pandemic in 2021 BCA SPARK was still held by adopting into an online format. The spirit of the event is to maintain employee engagement and to increase awareness about the importance of health during the pandemic.
The series of BCA SPARK events in 2021 started from opening ceremony, sport and art competitions (dance, singing, running, photography, yoga, chess, e-sports and virtual walks), online webinars and closing ceremony which successfully involved 5,493 BCA employees participation from lower level to BOD level.
Uniqueness of the project
SPARK 2021 is the first ever virtual sport and art event in Indonesia. While many sports and arts events have been postponed due to pandemic covid 19, BCA continued to organize these events by modifying the type of competition, the rules of the game, the scoring method and adaptation to technology to ensure that the tournament was held with the principles of sportsmanship, integrity and compliance to health protocols.
For the first time, SPARK also involved the active participation of employees up to 5.493 compared to the biggest participation from the previous SPARK event which is 1.280 participants. Virtual Walk is one of the most anticipated sports competition in SPARK 2021. The competition which was held for 2 weeks succeeded in forming new healthy habits and engagements that started from simple things.
