About
The Data Heroes program focuses on Analytics Translator skills; i.e. mastering the skill of problem solving with data through our 4A framework (Ask, Acquire, Analyze & Act) and to be able to collaborate with data scientists to maximize the value from our data.
Innovation presentation
As a learning organization and, increasingly, a digital bank, DBS is building a culture that is customer-driven, data-obsessed, open to experimentation and embraces an agile way of working; these are mission-critical elements in our quest to “Make Banking Joyful”. However, to make better serving our customers a reality in this age of hyper personalization, we understand that we must change the culture of the entire organization by upskilling and reskilling our employees, making each of them champions of better using data to solve business problems. As part of our DataFirst curriculum, our Data Heroes program was piloted in 2018 and rolled out to six countries this year. It is central to teaching everyone in the organization to relentlessly use data and the insights from machine intelligence to make smarter, faster and better business decisions. At DBS, we believe there’s a little bit of Data Hero in all of us!
Uniqueness of the project
To strengthen the learning, our Data Heroes take on a real case study from within their business unit to apply the 4A framework and work on an actual business problem. They receive mentorship from DBS’ Analytics translators, Data Scientists, and data visualisation experts.
We believe such cultural change must be embraced from the top. Managers are advocates of the Program and strongly encourage their staff to attend and continue applying the 4A framework on a day-to-day basis.
DBS Taiwan, for example, is staying ahead by future-proofing the organisation through their F.I.R.S.T data-driven transformation. To continue codifying a data-driven culture, the CEO of DBS Taiwan hosted a Data Heroes workshop for 104 leaders in Taiwan conducted by the Chief Analytics Officer and the Head of DataFirst Culture and Curriculum.
