The new Santander app will mean a new way to do banking with our clients where the mobile will be the remote control of the physical world. The app Santander will become our best showcase.

This project aims to rebuild the customer experience through the mobile thanks to the inclusion of new functionalities, products, tools and services in our mobile app.

This ambitious evolution of the app has as its central axis its customization: the objective is to achieve an app for each person, by allowing the user to choose their profile photo, the style of their global position (from the simplest version to the most advanced, going through a standard version), which products you want to show and hide, with what aliases you want to identify each product, how they want us to name them,... and you can even choose the photographic theme that you like the most (sports, buildings, pets, cities,...)

This personalization has been achieved thanks to this initiative using different tools, such as simple onboarding or even using gamification to score the digital profile of each user (1-100%) and challenging them to upload their grade by personalizing the app or completing their profile, eg, including information such as their email or registering a secure device.

But we wanted to go a step further and amaze our user through the app, allowing not only creating an own customized app, but also their own personalized finances. For example, when creating a piggy bank, users can define their personalized objectives, deadlines, rules by which they want to accumulate their savings…; or they can customize how they want their account to behave through automatic operations based on the casuistry that they themselves define.

Uniqueness of the project

Many innovative initiatives have been developed in-house to respond to the needs of each client, offering a series of customizable services and tools, such as:

- Automatic operations, which allow you to program your accounts to carry out automatic operations in the cases that you decide (for example, if the account falls below a certain balance, make a transfer from another account to this one).

- Personalized savings tools thanks to Piggy Banks, which allows you to create your own savings rules: what% of each income you want to allocate to your savings piggy bank, if you want us to round up your purchases (and how much) to save the rounding in your piggy bank, or You can even define how much you want to save with each goal of your soccer team!

- The new global search engine, a new tool that will find all your movements. Located in the global position and other main spaces, you can search by text for the content of a movement. The global search will also consult operations and frequently asked questions.

- Purchase map. Considering that In Spain, more than 2.5 million purchase inquiries are already being made monthly, this new functionality allows you to view card purchases in physical stores geolocated on a map, so that you can analyze your spending geographically or verify the movements you have made. Given the success of this functionality in Spain, the rest of the group's countries in Europe are going to include it in their channels soon.

- Financial Timeline, which allows you to take control of everything that will happen in the next few days in your accounts. Your most relevant financial events from the past and the next to occur: the receipts and subscriptions that are going to charge you, the installments and settlements of loans, cards, insurance, periodic transfers...

- Real estate heritage, a section where you can register your homes, see their value and consider it in your heritage.

- Build your future, a content manager that offers products, tools and relevant information grouped by each of the important moments or topics in life in which we know you may need help: eg, I emancipate myself, my pet, my house, my vehicle, ...

- ATM area, where customers can consult the nearest ATMs and offices according to their geolocation at that time (or they can search by address in the search engine), as well as the services they offer, the availability of cash, the hours of each office or even see how to get there.

- My manager area, a space where users can contact their personal bank manager through the means that suits them best: chat, video call, mail, telephone,...
